Condensing at Least Eight Years of Academics into Five
The key to the program is the outcomes oriented, context based education model. Students are engaged and motivated because everything they are studying, practicing and performing is beneficial to their long term development and success as a future pastoral leader! We recognize that every day is precious and time must be invested well with intentional returns of personal growth, skills and knowledge building, and faith formation.
Most of our students either volunteer at their church or are employed part time by their church to establish the contextual base for the student's growth. They will remain engaged with their church or another church through the entire 5-Year Program. The students will be nurtured and mentored by the pastors and congregational members, as part of their growth.
Students will begin their undergraduate work with our partner Concordia University Chicago, through their College for Innovation and Professional Programs ("CUC"). CUC's Associates and Bachelors degree in Organizational Management is offered through their Accelerated Degree Program platform. Students can receive credit for completed work at other colleges and universities, as well as credits earned through dual enrollment, AP and other similar programs. Additionally, courses are delivered on campus in Chicago, but may be attended virtually through pc and tablet access. For more information on the CUC component, please refer to https://gradschool.cuchicago.edu/academics/accelerated-bachelors-degree-completion/ba-organizational-management/

Emmanuel has developed a comprehensive Leadership Training program to complement the work experience and academics to ensure the fostering of the skills needed to be a successful leader of a congregation, church entity and community. The program is similar to an "executive MBA" but it is highly relevant and customized to our students' needs and the areas of expertise and experiences that are desired by congregations that are calling new leaders. Key areas of focus include budgeting and financial management, collaboration and innovation, marketing and communications, plus fund raising and team leadership. Our instructors include executives from Fortune 1000 companies, leading academicians, and those who have excelled by doing!
Our seminary partner, Sioux Falls Seminary, an ATS accredited seminary, has created their Kairos Platform, which we have integrated into our program. Kairos is outcome driven and context based. Students are assigned three mentors as a significant component of the program, a Pastoral Mentor (of the student's denomination), a Faculty Mentor (of the student's denomination) and a personal mentor (of the student's choosing.) This Mentor Team lead by the Faculty Mentor will guide the seminarian's growth, ensuring their achievement of the required academic and skills based outcomes. The program is driven by relevant experiences and facilitated contemplation, as well as a series of six intensives at the Sioux Falls campus over a three year period. Refer to the Kairos Platform at https://sfseminary.edu/prospective-students/programs/master-of-divinity/
Our Program Administrators as well as the Sioux Falls Seminary staff work very closely with the Candidacy Committees of each of the respective students, as soon as they are enrolled, to ensure that time is well spent and that the expectations of the Candidacy Committee are met.
